LAS VEGAS (FOX5) –Las Vegas Metro police said officers will be taking part in a checkpoint to stem impaired driving on the night of the Super Bowl.
Metro announced it will hold the checkpoint between 6 p.m. and 1 a.m. the next day at an unspecified intersection. Metro could only say the location is on a major roadway that has consistently shown to be a high-traffic area for accidents and impaired driving.
In addition, Metro’s officers will be joined by law enforcement personnel from Nevada Highway Patrol, Boulder City police and sheriff’s offices from Lincoln and Nye counties.
All vehicle occupants, regardless of age, will be checked for drug and alcohol impairment, police said.
Metro is joining Henderson police in local drunk driving enforcement for the championship football game on Sunday.
